Hello! We’re the Kane Family.

Shannon Kane

Having been born and raised in Central Oregon, our move from urban farm to rural life felt like a true homecoming. I am deeply passionate about all things local agriculture and am beyond proud to produce high-quality food for my community. One thing I love just as much as growing food is eating it and would consider myself a enthusastic foodie. I’m very involved in my community and wholeheartedly believe in the role of grassroots organization in shaping our lives. When I’m not in the fields you can find me homeschooling my kids, digging into a good book, or enjoying a long hike around the Cascades. I have a MA in Environmental Leadership from Naropa University with a focus in sustainable and equitable food systems and am a trained Permaculture Designer.

Taylor Kane

Taylor grew up in Portland with a very traditional lifestyle in mind until he met Shannon. He has always been drawn to the idea of living a self-sufficient lifestyle, but is now striving towards that goal. While we aren’t yet there, he is always trying to move our lives onto the next step in the right direction. He takes pride in the hard work he does for the farm, and our community, and is always willing to learn and get his hands dirty. Taylor handles the financial aspects, building, watering, and harvesting on the farm. When Taylor is not working on things for the farm, he is either working his full-time job assisting business owners to provide benefits to their employees, outside playing around with our children and pets, or fixing up our 1916 farm home. He holds a MBA from Pacific University and loves to play soccer when given the chance.
